At this moment in time, a friend of mine and I are editting and putting together a book of poetry written by the mixed youth of America that focuses on the difficulties of finding your place in a country that is so racially segregated. It is entitled Halfbreed. The poetry can be either direct or metaphorical - it doesn't matter. The idea is to voice the opinion of the mixed youth of America in this current time period about the true differences between different races. I believe mixed individuals have the least biased and most valid statements to make on this topic.
This book is an experiment in a sense. We've got a possible publisher at the moment who is very interested in the idea.
If you would like to contribute please attach your poetry in a Word Document and send to HalfbreedLit@yahoo.com or you can copy and paste the poem into the body of the email.
You may submit up to 3 poems of any length.
Please give your age, name, and ethnicities in the email.
Your poem/s will be reviewed and responded to within two weeks.
I'm looking forward to reading your work.
